To do art creation is inspiring and enjoyable. I capture the excellent techniques of drawing and painting figures, flowers and birds, landscapes, still life, etc. I am also comfortable to use different mediums such as charcoal, watercolour, oil painting, pastel and printmaking. And I make sculptures occasionally.
I need my artistic creation to be filled with unlimited space, freedom and possibility.
I don’t like using the same theme, style, medium and artistic language to create my artworks in my whole career because that is a kind of obliteration of my talent.
And I do not like to classify myself as a portrait painter, a landscape painter, a flower and bird painter or a still life painter, nor do I advertise myself as an oil painter, printmaker, watercolour painter, installation artist or a sculptor.
I am a thoughtful artist. I like keeping learning and exploring.
My life experience is getting richer and richer when I’m getting older and older. I read more and more books. Along with these, the way of thinking is changing. Obviously and naturally, the information conveyed by my works also changes.
For example, more than a decade ago, my creative themes used to be about freedom. But now they are more about people's inner, emotional aspects and connection between human beings and nature.
Some elements in my artworks are real and some are imagined. The tone of my artworks tends to be plain. I do not actively pursue the visual impact, violence and bloody scenes. Instead, I seek the emotional connection, so that the audience can feel calm, warm, thoughtful, or empathetic… I hope the audience can resonate with my artworks.
As an artist, I’m happy that my art creation life can be as long as my age.
All of my life experiences, knowledge, perceptions and culture of background can become my valuable creative materials and themes. At the same time, my enthusiasm for learning and exploration gives me endless inspiration to create artworks. My ability of controlling and adapting to my artworks becomes more and more strong. It lets me output my thoughts freely and effectively.
With these advantages, I will have more and more excellent works of art in future.
